I dont know why this is happening, God certainly wouldnt put a curse on me, unless i was living back in the old testiment.
I belive maybe trying to experience his presence is too overwhelinging to comprehend for my mind, so it has malfunctions and fluctutions resuling in siezures.
To see my symptoms of my siezures, i have a post on Psychobabble about "am i having siezures" by me.
I dont know really why this happens, why would Christ let that happen to me when im actually trying to get close to him?
Someone help me I have trouble sometimes hearing his voice and feel very unstable.
Matt

I've started and then deleated this post a number of times as I try to find something appropriate to say.
Don't lose heart! I don't know why some of us suffer but I believe there is a plan so far beyond our comprehension that all we can do is love. Love the world in its glory and misery.
When I was diagnosed schizophrenic they gave me brochures that read 'people with mental illness enrich our lives' and then there was a list of famous names, like Virginia Woolf and Tolstoy. It wasn't much consolation so I don't know why I bother to mention this but Dostoevsky and maybe even Sokrates were epileptic. Sokrates would go away alone and be still for a while, almost catatonic, and then say: I was talking to my spirits. And Dostoevsky writes a powerful account of a seizure in his book, 'The Idiot.'
We are close to God in our own unique way. I'm sorry that your proximity to God involves agony at the moment but don't lose sight of God.

That was beautifully written nicolas. Did you watch Dr. Phil last night? I was impressed by the lovely young woman who only thought of herself as anorexic. Her whole life was "body". I can assure you she was a lot more than that. mmcconathy, you too are a lot more than a seizure. It is important to understand that there is opposition to God. The opposition does not want us to discover God, or communicate with Him. The good news is that we are all stronger than the opposition, and if we keep striving, we will succeed in marvellous ways.
Try to keep thoughts of God close to your heart today. He hears all your thoughts, whispers, and intents, specifically those directed toward Him. When we keep Him in our thoughts we are more likely to do His will and enjoy His peace. As we strive to do so, we will receive His direction. Communication with God is not a one way street, though it leads to a straight and narrow path. Most who build relationship are beset with challenges along the way, but these are not like other challenges because there is purpose in them, as God is the master builder of character in each of us.
Have you asked Him:
"Are you there? Do you care? Am I important in your sight? Do you love me? Is there a way to feel close to you? Can you send someone to help or teach me? " And you might add, "Help me feel love for you, love for myself, love toward my family, my neighbor, my friends, and help me accept the difficult life I have been blessed with. Help me accept all that has happened in my life thus far and be grateful for it. Help me understand that I am who I am because of the experiences I have had. Help me say the words, "Thank you for my life" and help me believe that it has been for my best good." Then, "Please help me accept today as a gift of life from a God who loves and cares" "Help me see the gift in my disorder and use it to bring blessings into the lives of others". Then put a smile on your face, take a look in the mirror, and as you walk out your door, forget yourself and look for others who may be struggling. Share your smile, your prayers, your spirit. This is just the beginning. This is hard stuff, but it works.

Friends,
In this thread, a poster writes,[....God would not put a curse on me unless I was living back in the old testament...].
Could anyone clarify that statement to me? If you could, then I could respond accordingly.

Hi Lou:
Welcome back.
Sorry if I'm butting in here.
Matt is having a really rough time right now. I *think* what he is trying to say is that the God in the old testament sometimes cursed people, but the modern God of the new testament hasn't been known to do so.
The real point is that he is having this problem and he is confused as to why. There are more details on the psych board if you want to know more about him. That seems to be where he usually goes.
Last I looked over there, the topic was MPD and dissociation.

AuntieMel,
You wrote,[...the God of the old testament ...cursed people but the ...God of the new testament has not been known to do so...].
Are you saying that any of the following would be true?
A. The two Gods are different
B. The two Gods are the same
C. The God of the new testament is a changed God from the old testament
D. the God of the old testament had a disregard for people because He cursed them, and the God of the new testament likes people better and does not curse them. If this is so, could you post an example?
E. The God of the old testament does not exist anymore
F. The God of the old testament has been replaced by the God of the new testament.
G. Some combination of the above which is...
H. None of the above, but something else which is...
K. None of the above, but something else, and I will not state what it is.
If you could clarify what you meant by what you think the other poster meant , in particular about the God of the old testament cursing people, I could respond accordingly.
Lou
