Vertgio - Meclizine

Posted by captain on January 13, 2005, at 22:15:01

Hi! I haven't posted on here in ages so hello to any old friends!

Has anyone had to deal with recurring or chronic vertigo? If so, have you taken Meclizine? I took a half a .25 pill yesterday and i think i could sleep for a week. I feel all out of it and dizzy today! The funny thing is that dizziness is a side effect and it is for vertigo! SO FRUSTRATING!

I had the kind of sleep last night, and feel the kind of tiredness today, that you feel when you have a bad case of the flu.

Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated!

Hi Mr/Ms Captain!

I've never suffered from vertigo but I HATE antihistamines. I haven't taken meclizine but I've had really bad experiences with other antihistamines like diphenhydramine (Benadryl/Nytol) and promethazine (Phenergan). They made me extremely fatigued so I couldn't even get out of bed. Also, they made me very dizzy.

Do you have the hyoscine (Scopoderm / Transderm Scop) patch in your country? (whatever that may be). It is sometimes helpful for reducung the nausea of vertigo. It is also used for motion sickness.

Ed.

PS. Like the name captain!

You might want to post your question in the meds section of PB as you will get more responses more immediately. I have used meclizine in the past and yes it makes you very sleepy but hey the good news is you aren't dizzy anymore! Hope you get better soon
