In my opinion, any surgery, no matter how routine, has effects far beyond just the "physical".

In fact, any acute illness (such as emergent gall bladder "attack") can have lasting effects on our mental well being.

Surgery/illness really can rob us of our sense of control and can let us feel as though we are powerless over our bodies. Not only that, but I am convinced that the sedation can disrupt normal brain chemistry for a long time in some people.

Also, removal of your gall bladder can change the way you digest and absorb foods which can also lead to symptoms.

My best advice would be to talk about what happened to you and let both your body and mind heal.

It may take some time, but you will recover.
