I am New Here

Posted by imlaurie on May 19, 2004, at 11:20:55

I am new here although I have already posted on the other boards. I am suffering from depression. One pdoc thinks I am bipolarII with rapid cycling but I don't believe that.
The last doc that I saw just recently said I am grieving. My boyfriend/fiance of 11 years is now with my best friend of 36 years. Going on behind my back for God knows how long. It really did me in. I am on so many meds I don't even want to leave the house and I don't. The drugs cured the sadness sort of but have left me like a zombie. There has to be a middle ground here somewhere. I'm glad I found this site.

Hello imlaurie,
Welcome to the boards, I am pretty new myself - I have only been on the boards for about a month now. You will definetely find all the support you need here. The people are wonderful, they have helped me so much. Just to let you know a little bit about myself -I am 33 and suffer from anxiety/panic disorder. I am currently taking 5mg of Lexapro and xanax whenever I need it.

I feel for you - I have been through the same thing in my life and it really does do you in but please believe me when I say that you will get over it, you will probably never forget it but you will get over it - I promise you. I know that people who have never been through such a terrible experience could never imagine how bad it hurts and how it haunts you constantly.

I can also tell you that I will be here for you if you need just to talk or just vent. my personal email is fknight1@hotmail.com if you want to commuicate that way.

Please keep your head up and know that better things are coming your way.

Take care and be well,
Anxious babe

hi laurie, i'm karen. i'm glad you decided to post here, and i'm really glad you've posted on other boards as well!!! please feel free to explore and jump in threads that interest you. that's how i've had the chance to meet many amazing people.

i'm very sorry to hear about your situation with your boyfriend. that's really hard to take dear. i wish that i had the perfect words or advice to give you, but i don't. i'm sure that in time it won't hurt as bad as it does right now, but please take your time to grieve as well. it must be very hard dear. (((laurie)))

about your meds.... there is a good board here called psychobabble which deals with meds. there are a lot of insightful and helpful people over there who may be able to give you some advice about certain side effects and you could ask your pdoc about that. i've been in the situation of being overmedicated before and was to the point that i was honestly scared to leave my house. i finally started seeing a new pdoc and started all over again with a whole new set of meds. but, finally i was able to get my symptoms under control with only one medication. (i'm dx with bipolar I disorder, btw) and therapy has helped me so very much too! i've been very very lucky and worked a little to get where i am, even though i still have quite a ways to go. but, if you are feeling overmedicated, perhaps you could speak with your pdoc about it? don't give out hope that there are meds out there that will work for you dear. it sometimes takes a while, but when you do find them, it makes the journey so very worth it!!!

take care dear, and i hope to hear from you soon, kk

Hi Laurie, I'm partlycloudy. (Used to be rainyday and the weather improved). Welcome to Babble - it's a safe haven for the likes of us! I'm bipolar2, GAD and get panic attacks, and I could not have gotten through the past six months without this place.

Hi,

I'm new here too but wanted to say welcome and keep coming back. I think you can learn so much and get alot of support.

I'm also diagnosed Bipolar II rapid cycling (I'm also an alcoholic) but not sure if I believe the bipolar diagnosis either. My new philosophy is that I don't really care what the diagnosis is as long as I find the right meds! Don't let the label of bipolar bother you- it's just someone's opinion.

Try to go easy on yourself and be patient with your recovery- you've been through an awful experience. I hope you feel better soon.

As far as feeling like a zombie, my advice is talk to the doctors and educate yourself on different meds as much as possible.

Take care and good luck.

Caper
