I found this site yesterday and I can't believe how much support there seems to be here.
I am a parent of an addict/depressed young adult. I am also the child of a similar personality. I myself stuggle with alcohol, although I feel there are larger problems in our family life at this time.
There is so much to say, I am afraid for my son but I am afraid for my other children too.

Hello, and welcome! There are many boards here where you might find valuable support - the Parent board, for questions about your child, the Medication board, for questioons about your treatment, and the Substance board, where we see those of us who deal with the dual diagnosis of depression or anxiety in addition to substance abuse.
To lighten things up, there's the Social board, usually where things get a little silly. Please jump in!

Hi, you've come to a good place. I second what ClearSkies said about the various boards. I am a depressed (no longer young) substance abuser. I've made it this far and am trying to improve my life. If there is anyway I can offer support or perspective on what your son may be going through beyond what you've already lived through and know about, I am open to talking about it. You can post on substance board, or there is a thing called babblemail where you can email me privately. Or just hang around and get your feet wet first. anyway, welcome.
