Just introducing myself

Posted by millie72 on August 3, 2006, at 8:04:11

Hi everyone, I have just become a member. I have in the last hour been reading through some threads, and the support from everyone is great and inspiring. I have been taking Effexor XR for a year now and feel very ready to get off them. I currently take 150mg and my Dr has put me down to 75mg daily. Which i start tomorrow. I just recently tried going off them cold turkey but the sie effects i got in two days where horrible - servere headache, trembling, muscle pain, sadness and slight suicidal flashes. This happened last night and i could take it so i took a tablet. Within 2 hours i was fine. So i am hope the 'slow and steady wins the race' pace is a much easier way to go. I cant wait to get off these meds. They seem to be dragging me down.

Hey there. Have you checked out the withdrawing from effexor posts on the withdrawal board? I think the longest thread in babble history is a withdrawal from effexor thread (though i'm willing to be corrected).

I reckon you will find a lot of support on the withdrawal board in particular about effexor withdrawal. Welcome to babble glad you decided to join us :-)

Welcome aboard!
This is quite the site. I'm fairly new here myself but extremely glad I found it.
I went cold turkey off Effexor XR 150mg daily about a week ago. While there seem to be some definite common threads regarding withdrawl it is different for everyone. If your feeling like 'slow and steady' then I say do it that way.
I've always been one to do things the hard way. ;)
Hang in there and stay tapped in here, it's a good thing.
