I must admit, I haven't been studying very much at all. I'm going to fail my classes if I don't start studying. So far I've only studied about 2 hrs a week, pathetic isn't it? I have a midterm on the 30th.
I haven't been very studious, especially since I started university. The lack of structure isn't good for me.
How many hours a week do you study? For how many classes? I have two classes right now. I'm taking the organic chem and the plant physiology and biochemistry I'd dropped. I think I should study 15 hours a week. I think that would be good.
I'm going to study now.

This is my minimum that I try to get in everyday, but before a test, I study much more. But I try to study an hour each day alternating between Lifespan Psych, and Abnormal Psych. when there are not tests or papers due.
Then I try to practice an hour a day on my trumpet exercises and learn any new music everyday, I probably average 2 hours though.
I have my first test coming up for Abnormal Psych on Friday, so I am studing probably 8 hours this weekend, and plan on studing 1 hour a day before the test in addition to studing for my other class occationally this week.

I'd say I try to treat studying like a full time job. So if I'm at the uni having a lecture, say 8-10, then I'll go to the library and study for couple of hours, have an hour for lunch, than back to study in the afternoon for 4 hours, them go home at dinner, have dinner etc and then try to do some more at home.
So I'd reckon about 5-6 hours a day, excluding classes and excluding the weekend.
I don't think you can get by on any less! Unless you have only one lecture a week or something....

Hi Deneb,
For me it depends on if there is a quiz or an assignment due. Probably about two hours per week for each class on average. Keep in mind I work fulltime, so I have to study when I can fit it in. Which is what I should be doing right now. And the laundry...and...

That's my general rule, although I don't always manage just that. Sometimes, though, I study more than that. Sometimes it is less. That's the rule, though, that I plan by.
One thing you could try is study groups...
Another thing is tutoring centers. I use the math lab a lot, even though I can't make myself ask for help. I've always taken advantage of as many study helps as possible -- labs, tutoring centers, etc.
Good luck

I'm feel pretty good about having studied today. I studied a lot today, 7 hours. I have a chem midterm on Sat. Studying isn't so bad, it's actually kind of enjoyable. Learning isn't all that bad.
From now on I have to live and breath organic chemistry. LOL
