How does taking a class pass/fail affect your GPA?

Posted by Racer on November 5, 2006, at 19:33:56

This term I'm falling so far behind in my math class, I'm thinking of asking to go to pass/fail. I'm concerned, though, about what that would do to my GPA? Does anyone know how it's counted?

Thanks!

I think it might depend on your college. In my college there is a cut offdate where you have to notify them. I believe at my college you are allowed one pass or fail class per period, which do not go torwards your GPA. I might go that option when I take Chemistry or Calculas.

I didn't realise that was an option! Here, some classes opperate on pass fail, but I'm not sure how it works with my gpa. Let me go see if my GPA is better because of that class... Darn I don't get GPA points for pass fail classes. So it doesn't help my GPA. Darn, so this semester isn't going to do anything for my GPA? BAH! (I'm on pass fail for this class, but that's just how it was laid out by the prof)
